Security tips for your boat

Here at Holt Marine Shop, we really take pride in passing on our wealth of knowledge to all of our customers in Brisbane.  We do this not because we think it will make us money, but rather because we absolutely love what we do and enjoy sharing hints, tips and tricks when it comes to anything in the boating world.  In today’s blog post we will continue this trend by providing some handing guidelines on how to keep your pride and joy safe and secure.

Lock it up!

Unfortunately in this world, there are thugs out there that will not hesitate one second to steal your boat.  It’s a harsh reality, but at the end of the day all you can do is prepare your machine as much as you can in order to prevent potential thieves.  The best way you can do this is to install a boat lock, and also wheel locks if your boat is kept on a trailer.

Keep an eye peeled

If your boat happens to be parked at a mooring over the winter months, it could be a good idea to go and check on it as often as possible.  Even if someone isn’t able to steal your boat itself, it wouldn’t be too hard for them to jump onboard and cause chaos.

Keep Records

The final tip regarding security that we can give our customers would have to be to make sure that you have your license number engraved on every single piece of portable equipment and the motors.  By keeping a record of what you have marked, you will be in a better position to recover your boat should the worst case scenario occur.

In today’s blog post, we have outlined some of the main ways that you can keep your boat away from the slippery hands of any thieves that may be looking to make a quick buck.  If you would like to find out any more about boating security or just boats in general, please don’t hesitate to come into our marine shop at Brisbane or to give us a call today on 07 3353 1928.
